Unhappy Help with taming! Lost confidence.

I’ve had my Yuki for 2 weeks now and she was doing really well with taming. She had been climbing into my hand without biting and i was feeling really confident! Yesterday she bit me for the first time, i’ve really lost a lot of confidence and she is becoming increasingly more interested in biting me rather than the food i’m trying to give her. I was obviously prepared for her to bite me as she is an animal and she is going to become scared. We had to take her to the vet a week ago where the vet was trying to pick her up/interact and I’m wondering if that has made her more fearful and is now a set back for me? Should i start the whole process from scratch? I really don’t know what to do as I would hate to stress her out but I have lost a lot of confidence when it comes to trying to tame her as I don’t know how to let her know that biting isn’t what’s okay, if that’s even a thing? I’d appreciate any tips anyone has, thank you!

I think you are right to go back to the beginning, sounds like the vet trip didn't help and probably did set things back. I'm not sure teaching them to not bite really works, since it's likely down to reasons such as fear or nervousness (or in some cases if they're territorial) as opposed to them being aggressive. If she doesn't seem settled in the cage then I'd let her get accustomed to that first and just spend some time talking to her for now. Handling etc will need to wait until she's ok with your hands being around her and also taking treats from you I think. 2 weeks is still a very short amount of time and remember it can take some hamsters months to become tame, so just keep going at her pace and try not to rush things. I'm sure she'll be back to where she was soon enough.
