Default Withdrawn hammie

I bought 3 dwarf hamsters that I thought were girls but turned out to be boys. They lived together in an Alaska cage - they had one of each thing: bowl, water disk etc.. There was a bit of squabbling but nothing too serious - they all slept together in one house. However, on Sunday on of them set about another and all hell broke loose - I immediately removed the bullied hamster and put him in his own cage. Since then he seems to be very withdrawn, he just stays in his bed. He was the tamest of the 3 but now seems to have little interest in his disk or anything else. I know I had to do it - I was genuinely fearful for his life - but he seems so sad now and I feel bad for him to have to lose the company of his brothers. Will he come around? He doesn’t seem to be enjoying his solitary life at the moment.

Yes, he will come round. The change is a huge upheaval in his life but he will be all the happier for it. You did the right thing. Give it a couple of weeks and he will adjust completely to his new cage. Just keep talking gently to him as he settles down.
