squeaking noise ?
so ive had my Syrian for a while and hes quite tame and gentle, however lately as iv'e been having to use the room that hes in, later at night than usual for my studies, hes started to bite the mesh of his cage. he has a slanted flap, with a layer of mesh that goes on top, and because it bends easily hes found less difficulty in biting it. and i think this is his reaction to the light being on.so ive tried to leave as quickly, but then i realized it may be because i hadn't taken him out in a while, hence i took him out and played with him, hes seemed to stop momentarily with the biting, but know seems to be making a squeaking noise, as if hes ' kissing his teeth' or just squeaking.this has continued for a couple days now.and there's no sign of any other problem. i have no idea what this means as hes been getting everything he needs so i have no idea if this is normal or not ?

Re: squeaking noise ?
It sounds as though it could just be attention seeking behaviour, he knows you're there & wants to come out, how much out of cage time does he get? He may need more & you might just need to try to figure out a routine so he can have out of cage time & be ready to go back in the cage while you use the room for your studies.
It. might a good idea to check his teeth & mouth just to be sure he hasn't done any harm with the chewing on the bars too if he's making this noise all the time now.

Re: squeaking noise ?
i regularly take him out and offer hi fresh fruits and veges by hand, and sometimes take him in a smaller cage downstairs, just as a change of pace. this smaller cage has a god wheel and everything, its just easier to carry. and at the end of the night i put him back. but i only do this sometimes. one thing i have noticed, is that after biting the cage, he will stand back and his teeth will chatter or make fast biting sound, like chatter ?. but this doesn't continue, and about his teeth, the large upper two, look even and not cut down too much . but that's the only thing i can see ? one thing ive heard about bar chewing is that it can harm their nose ? if this is true i may be able double up another layer of mesh, minimizing the space between holes .

Re: squeaking noise ?
Chewing bars can damage their noses as well as teeth yes, if he's still chewing the bars then more mesh to stop him getting hold of them might well be a good idea.
If you can I would try to get into a routine of taking him out, most if not all hams enjoy having some out of cage time each day & he might settle better if you could do that.
