Question How to stop a hamster thinking you're edible?

Hi. I have a roborovski who is a year old and I'll have had her a year in march.
She isn't very tame (partly my fault for not putting enough effort in). She doesn't like being held but she'll let me touch her or occasionally stroke her when she's distracted by food.
The past couple of months she's become quite interested in my hand whenever I put it in the cage. She will follow my hand around the cage and go up to it before wimping out and running away and coming back but running away before getting too close. Today she finally came close enough to my hand to touch me and she tried eating my hand. I rewashed my hands just to make sure there wasn't any food on my hand still but she still tried to eat my finger. (My soap doesn't have a particular scent except the smell of soap).
Does she just think I'm edible or is there another reason?
Is there a way to stop her trying to eat me?

Nibbling hands is often the first step in getting used to them! I haven't had a robo but Russian hams tend to do this too at first, they usually get out of the habit once they get more used to hands though & if you're offering treats it doesn't take them to figure out what's treat & what's hand.

My robo does this occasionally sometimes charges over knowing I have food and nibbles a finger before realising a bit too late and stopping. It might not be that she thinks you’re edible but may just be nervous, I’d just keep going as you are as cypher said they generally learn you’re harmless and are not food pretty quickly!
