That makes sense. Thank you. I tested a little dip on an applewood chew and he never came back for more so I removed it. Thanks again!

I foundy hamster got bored of his walnut since he didn't really know how to open it. I tried monkey nuts and they're easier to open but still give him as much of a chance to chew as a cardboard chew. It's also very rewarding to get a tasty treat at the end of it. You could also give him hazelnuts which are again a little tougher.
Hope this helps!

My russian doesn't like wooden chews
Try monkey nuts or walnuts with little crack made so they can start to get into it.
Also try dangling toys or chews.
Incidentally just got hamster mail delivery, she luvs the palm leaf bowl mostly.

Russians don’t need to chew that often and some like to chew more than others so I wouldn’t worry. You might find some tiny chew marks on a bendy bridge or wooden house at some point tho

My russians really like to chew natural ball toys, and they make excellent puzzle toys if you stuff seeds and mealworms in the gaps. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rosewood-Bo...dp/B002NKD0BG/ (also available at p@h and wilko)

What colour whimzees did you try? My hamsters have favourite flavours and can be quite fussy with which colour they get!

If Whimzee chews don’t interest him maybe try dog biscuits? I give mine Bonio biscuits and my hamsters love them! Also you could give them monkey nuts or walnuts which help keep the teeth down and the claws

Unfortunately, it’s actually not recommended to give dog biscuits to hamsters anymore because they ingredients contain a lot of additives and supplements that could negatively affect your hamsters health.

My hamster is the same. What I do is place some wooden chews inside his food box and leave it there for 2-3 days then place it inside his cage. He seems to nibble it thinking it is food. Also I bury a monkey nut in his substrate so he has to nibble it to get the peanut
