hamster no longer using hideout/house

for the past couple of days, my male syrian Teddy hasn't been using his house to sleep i and is making himself a nest kind of things in a corner behind his wheel. i think maybe his house is too small so i'm going to cut and empty tissue box in half and see if he likes that better because it will be bigger. is there something wrong with this?

Replacing his house with a tissue box should be fine.

It might also be that something about his house has changed? Hams don’t take kindly to complete clean outs or having their stash moved from their beds... have you cleaned out his house recently or changed anything?

Tissue boxes make lovely houses, that way the hammy can make a nice big, warm nest

He might just want to change where he sleeps. My hamster sometimes decided to change nest locations just because of his own reasons. Make him another hideout if you want; tissue boxes do make great hideouts.
