My new dwarf hamster won’t stop biting my fingers!! Please help
I recently got a new Russian Dwarf hamster just under. A week ago. I gave him a couple of days for him to settle In, and then I began to slowly introduce my hands to him. By the 4th day he was climbing all over my hands, accepting food from me, jumping on my hands from his little ledge, and allowing me to stroke him whilst eating.
Today though when I went to go play with him (my hands were washed), he won’t stop trying to bite my fingers, and it’s not just nibbles, and he drew blood. He was not like this any other days, but now he won’t walk onto my hands without biting at my fingers.
I always wash my hands before handling him, and I offer him treats to try and assosiciate my hands with not being a threat. I just find it strange that all of a sudden he is doing this when he wasn’t before. I still haven’t handled him out the cage as I wanted to let him settle.
I really want to get him to stop, before it becomes habit so please, any advice is very much appreciated!!!
