Slow and alert hamster?
Hi, I joined this forum because my hamster sometimes acts weird and i haven't found answers online. I adopted moose 2 months ago from Petco and i dont know his exact age. He is a very active hamster, he loves running in his ball and burrowing in his bedding and cleaning himself. He eats regularly, drinks a normal amount of water, has healthy fur and skin and clear eyes and nose. However, for the 2nd time since i have adopted him he has been acting strange. Normally when i pick him up he is very active and wants to run around in my hands, but right now he is being very slow and careful in his movements and his ears and fully perked up. He isnt moving a lot and he looks focused. But the environment is the same as it has ever been. The only thing i can think of is that I have dog hair and spit on my shirt from visiting a friend, and the only other time he has acted this way is when I took him to my parents house where there Is also a dog. Is he smelling dog and is afraid or is it something else? Thank you, I dont want him to be upset, he means the world to me.

Re: Slow and alert hamster?
It sounds like the dog scent is the problem, his behaviour sounds quite normal for a ham that has sensed something that could be a threat.
