Scary strawberries!
So Tofu my robo has never gotten ok with me holding her or touching her which I don't really mind but today she took her skittishness to the next level.
I held a piece of strawberry out for her for a while but she didn't want to come near it and take it so I left it in her food bowl and closed the cage. (She's usually completely fine with taking treats from me).
After a while she came out ran around and then went towards her food bowl. When she realised there was something extra in her food bowl she jumped and ran away. She approached the bowl again, nibbled the strawberry a tiny bit, the she went to sit in her food bowl but when she touched the strawberry she was out and gone.
She did go back to her food bowl and picked up lots of food but completely ignored the strawberry.
I have given her a strawberry before but it was a while ago. I guess it's because this strawberry was cut open but I definitely didn't expect my hamster to be scared of a fruit

Re: Scary strawberries!
It's probably a combination of fear and excitement Our robo is much the same - although not with food!

Re: Scary strawberries!
My robo loves strawberries! He had a similar reaction to the new rock I put in his cage last week though! Robos are such scaredy hams
