Default Grooming or something more?

I just got my little dude 'Jovi' today. I've had hamsters in the past, but its been about 11 years since I've had one so I'll admit I'm a little rusty. I've left him alone like it says you should, but have been keeping an eye on him and noticed that he does something a bit odd... Sitting up and biting at his 'boy bits'. Is this just part of the grooming process?

i would say it is just part of grooming, Those 'parts' need grooming too! Its been a few years since i've had a male, i only have a female currently. But i'm pretty sure its nothing to worry about. Your very wise to leave him to settle, after hes started to become used to you, try and have a check of the 'parts' and as long as they don't look sore or unusual in anyway then you can be certain it was just grooming.

Thanks. He seems to have stopped doing that now, so your right, it was probably just grooming. Not managed to properly handle him yet cos he's still a bit shy but we're making slow progress.
