Adopted shy older hamster, need help with taming

Larry Ben that's great, good for you! It is totally worth it. Is she getting any bolder? It took us a good month for Alan to warm to us so keep persevering if yours is still timid. Also maybe worth mentioning that Alan seems to be just be a bit shy anyway; he doesn't come out to play every night and sometimes he clearly would prefer to be on his own. We've just learnt a bit more about what he likes and sometimes will coax him to be sociable, sometimes let him have his own way. This morning he ran out for a cuddle so it's definitely worth it! He got lots of treats for that! I hope you are really pleased with your adopted hamster i bet she loves her new home

I adopted boris who was about 10 months old! Saw him on local rspca website and well he looked so scruffy and a real fluff ball I had to have him! He was very shy first week or so but I discovered he liked to feel secure so I would wear my dressing gown when holding him he loves nothing more now than sitting on me and eating his snacks. It does take time and each hammy is different hope he settles well it’s an amazing feeling knowing you’ve rescued!maybe try him in bath tub with you sat in it? So he safe but has interaction with you
