Question Taming Coco!

So as many of you know I recently got a umbrous golden Syrian hamster (8 days ago)

I have begun the taming process by feeding her from my hands and she also is allowing me to stroke her.

Although, when I put food on the palm of my hands she is very unsure and usually sniffs and walks away.

She is very friendly but when it comes to food on my palm of my hands she backs away.

Any tips?

Just give it time, if she'll take food from your fingers she'll move on to hands soon enough, just keep your hands still & wait for her to come to you, it might take a few tries but no need to rush things.

Slow steps always works. 8 days isn't long.

Yesterday she started taking food from my palm (putting two paws on my palm) she didn’t mind at all so a big improvement!

Aha thank you, a couple of days ago I just payed my hands flat in the cage and she didn’t seem bothered she was walking over them like normal.

Another day she was on top of her bendy bridge so I just put my hands out so if she wanted to she could walk on them and she did but this time sat on them for a bit.

She is making great progress.

Always so hard when you first get them.....we are so anxious to play with them and they are scared to death! I just got my new addition yesterday and he actually did let me take him out today for a bit which surprised me. Each day they become a little calmer and more used to you. Enjoy!
