Unhappy Hamster terrified of cage

Hi, apologies in advance for the long post!
So, I changed my hamsters sand bath/litter tray from a dog bowl to a glass cookie jar on Wednesday night - on Thursday she absolutely freaked out when I put her back in her cage (after time in a new playbox and the ball) - jumping around and running on her wheel like a mad thing. I thought she'd just been overstimulated so left her alone for a few days to calm down. On Saturday she still was no better so I got her out to check for signs of illness - she seemed fine, aside from being super highly alert and a bit shaky, but while in my hand she relaxed - the minute I put her near her cage she'd start to shake again, and then when I put her back in she went crazy and leapt back out onto my hands. I put her in her play cage, which is where she still is now, and despite being a little nervy still she's fine.
I'm really unsure of how to proceed! The cookie jar is the only thing we changed up before this, so I'm thinking it's that, but I'm not sure! Any advice would be great!!
Thanks for reading

I'd just change back to the dog bowl and see if that stops it. If not she may have had a little fright from something else and it will take time to settle her again.

Should I do a cage clean before putting her back then? She was due one anyway and I think it might be better to put her back into a clean cage and leave her to settle back down for a few days - she’s in her play box atm as she seems calmer in there (been in since Saturday night) and don’t want to move her back till I figure out what to do. The dog bowl is quite shallow and sand gets all over the place which is really annoying! I think getting a deeper bowl might help! But not sure!
So my plan is to leave her in her play box a few more nights, clean her cage out Wednesday (leaving in some old bedding) and slowly introduce her back to it... what do you think?

No I would not clean her unless she is very stinky. Hamsters get very stressed about removing their scent from the cage. They don't actually like to be super clean. As long as you spot clean the wee corner it shouldn't really need cleaned all that often as the poop is just dry and inoffensive. If you over clean it can make them quite skitty.

It’s been about 6weeks since I last cleaned her out, and I did plan on doing the Erin’s hamsters method of doing a partial clean... she is getting a bit smelly but not super stinky - the fact that she was so scared while in the cage makes me worry the smell of her cage might actually scare her...
Maybe I will just change back to the dog bowl and see what she thinks... I really never want her to be that scared again , it was terrifying to watch!
