Default Hamster wont stop biting cage.

Hi,
I know that this question has been asked several times but i am at my wits end. I have a syrian hamster who suddenly developed a habit of biting her cage. I got her chew toys, vita dog biscuits, apple and pear twigs and a snak shack. She just wont stop biting the bars. Her cage size is 32 ½’’ L x 19’’ W x 17 ½’’ H . When i take her out in the ball, she tries to chew the sides of the ball. I let her have at least an hour of outside the cage time, either in her ball or in the bathtub. I'd like to know what else i could do. I did try the lemon juice thing and it did stop her for a while but then she went to the other side of the cage.

I had this trouble with my chocolate syrian girl, Kashi (rip). She was in the barney cage (from zooplus) 100cm x 54cm. I gave her loads of cardboard woven in amd out of the bars which I replaced very regularly.

I also got her the lovely silent runner wheel. She did stop chewing and remained lively and inquisitive til the end.

Best of luck finding ways to entertain her.

Did anything in her environment or her cage change before she suddenly started bar chewing? It sounds as though something may be stressing her possibly if this is a change in her normal behaviour.
Is her wheel big enough & working ok?
It is only a temporary solution but using cardboard threaded through the bars as FF suggested can help as she'll spend time chewing that rather than the bars.
Whimzee dog chews are a big favourite with hams & that might help a little too.
Do you scatter feed or use a bowl? Scatter feeding or making treat toys out of toilet roll tubes or small cardboard boxes to hide food in can help a lot to encouraging natural behaviour foraging.
Do you have a photo of your cage set up that might help us see if there are any changes you could make that may help?
I wouldn't put anything on the bars, it doesn't work long term & isn't good for them.
If she chews the ball then I would just not use it, it doesn't really benefit her at all, either just use the bath or make or buy a playpen where she can have lots to explore & things to do & you can interact with her at the same time.
If you haven't seen it already have a look at this thread for more ideas.

Some excellent suggestions crom cypher. Kashi used to love treats hidden in egg boxes and in loo roll inners.

Thank you everybody for your suggestions. You are right, i think i need to provide my hammy with a little more entertainment. So i have started hiding her food around the cage instead of leaving it in a bowl. I had woven some cardboard strips over where she bit the cage but i might have not done a very good job because she had it out in seconds. The video link that you sent me was very helpful too. All in all she seems to have calmed down. I am sorry I am unable to send a picture of the cage at the moment.

it could be that she just wants to come out. i have a roborovski who absolutely hates coming out of his enclosure, but when he starts chewing on the bars, if i offer him his ball, he is super happy to get in. then i just let him run around on my bed a little bit and he's perfectly fine after (:
