Hamster wheel is a pantry

Hello. Not posted for a while, heatwave making me very zzz ! I'm wondering if lots of hamsters do this as our little lady has a thing about storing her food in her wheel?! And then will try run on her wheel..we find it slightly odd as for one it's very noisy for her and she could hurt herself. We remove the food and place it elsewhere and it gets puts back. Is this a common thing hamsters do? I'm curious as its been bugging us for a while as to why ? !

I think it is just - want to run - want to eat! Why not do both at the same time?

My hamster does the same thing. Even putting her whimzee chew in the wheel. I've tried to remove it from the wheel several times and within minutes it's back.

One of my previous lads loved putting things in his wheel. Whimzees, dog biscuits, food, bedding... you name it, he would try to put it in his wheel and if you took it out, he’d just put it back.

We have had dwarfies who do this and also use the wheel as a toilet. It's terrible!
Run, eat , pee then shower all in one handy wheel!!
