Chirping or squeaking noises?
Hello! I recently got a new hamster, a Syrian named Mary, who is my second hamster. She is a bit older so taming has been a little harder but she is doing great. However, I have noticed that she makes soooo much noise! My first and previous hamster was always quiet; I never heard anything from her. Mary is almost constantly making squeaking noises and little chirps while she burrows and cleans herself and really during any activity. She is very active and seems perfectly healthy but as I have never experienced these noises I was worried if something might be wrong with her. Has anyone had experience with these types of noises?

Re: Chirping or squeaking noises?
Some hamsters can be very quite vocal. It hard to say for certain without hearing the sounds what they mean - but I don't think they are anything to worry about.

Re: Chirping or squeaking noises?
Thanks for the input! I thought the same thing but I took her to the vet just to be safe. It turns out she was sneezing and has a respiratory infection, or basically a common cold which is an easy fix with some antibiotics. Hopefully she'll feel better soon! Thanks again!

Re: Chirping or squeaking noises?
Good thing you took her to the vet! Depending on the personality of the hamster, they can be quite vocal or quiet. It just depends, if that helps you with future hammies! Best of luck on owning your new hammy!
