Unhappy Hamster Teeth Chattering

I recently bought a 7 weeks old Syrian hamster and is wondering if there are any tips on taming since my syrian hamster is rather skittish and bites too :,)
Also Ive been noticing that everytime after I let the hamster climb back into his cage from the exercise ball, he will start chattering his teeth really loud. I only let him out in the exercise ball for 10-15 mins max.

Do you just use the ball for out of cage time or do you use a playpen or other safe area with toys to explore where you can interact with him?
He may not like the ball & it won't help with taming so i would just use a safe play area of some kind & gradually get him used to you & begin handling him, he will probably be less likely to bite outside the cage too. Keep sessions short to begin with & give him plenty of fun things to explore & maybe his wheel too.

I have not tried using a playpen but perhaps Ill get one and start bonding with him in it.
Also; could it be possible that he doesnt like the ball because there’s the scent of other hamsters since the ball originally belonged to my brother’s syrian hamster which he gave me.

He is a young hamster and by the way he sounds he needs a patient taming process. How long have you had him for? I am guessing it has been 1 week (hams shouldn't be homed before 6 weeks). I wouldn't get him out of his cage at all for at least 1 week. Leave him completely alone (so no handling or touching), but still talk to him all the time, and maybe offer the odd treat every now and then. Gradually increase the amount of treat offering in the next week, and maybe place a treat on your palm and put your palm on the base of his cage. Let him come to you. Do this for a week. When he is comfortable with coming to your hand, then you can start lifting him up, but only do it in the cage for another week. Then the next week you can bring him out of the cage and spend some time going hand to hand. Never grab him, skittish hamsters don't tolerate being grabbed very well. If you feel like he's not getting too comfortable after a week, don't rush onto the next step, just prolong that step until he is comfortable. Only move to the next step once he is confident and comfortable in the activity. You can also use things like tubes or his ball to lift him out of the cage.

Balls aren't great, I believe they stress hamsters out and I have not used them due to this. Playpens are great, plus it enables you to interact with them also. I would only do this once he has built up some confidence with you (Like comfortable with being picked up at least).

Here is a tutorial I made on how to make a playpen, it's nice and large and fairly cheap.
