Default Re: Normal?

You gaining confidence in handling Puff will come in time. The whole taming process can take a little while so just take things slowly and at a pace that you both feel comfortable with. Also, I would try your best to not be scared of any potential biting because that will make you more fearful, causing her to sense your hesitation, and making her more prone to biting as a result of her becoming scared, too. It is a cycle that can only be broken if you are able to stay calm and confident when dealing with your hamster. Don't overthink things if possible, and things will come more naturally to you both. If your hamster is more prone to biting in the cage, the best thing for her is to do the taming outside of it. Use a hamster ball or container that your hamster can't escape from and bring her to ideal places such as a hamster-safe playpen or a dry tub with a towel over the drain. Have plenty of hiding areas and toys in there and let your hamster crawl on you. Keep the taming sessions very short and gradually increase the length of each session over time. Hamsters often tend to be more willing to interact in a non-aggressive manner there if they are a bit cage territorial. I would also suggest not using gloves while interacting with your hamster because that will make her less likely to become accustomed to your scent. Also, hamsters tend to not enjoy gloves and are more likely to bite them. I will be wishing you and Puff the very best of luck in your taming and hope all goes well. In time, you will grow a wonderful, loving bond with one another and, one day when you reminisce about this time, you will probably be surprised that you were ever tentative before because your relationship with Puff would have grown into something truly amazing by then. Have fun!

I forgot to mention that you should also do the tissue trick if you haven't already done so. This will make her get used to your scent even faster and associate you with comfort since she will most likely use the tissues as her cozy nest.
