Default Cage biting! :(

New hammy has just started cage biting, tips on how to stop it please?

He's about 3 weeks old ish

Cage Size
82cm L
48CM H
44CM W

The toys he has

12" Wheel

Carrot and Apple wooden shape chew
Gnaw wood stick

just added today:

Bendy Bridge
Activity Suspension Bridge by boredom breakers (it says not recommended under 6 weeks but he seems to like it even if he does struggle abit and is clumsy falling off) he just gets back on it, is this something i should remove?

also just added a sand bath.

Pleasssse help???

Iv'e read that lemon juice works, same with Olive oil, and putting pegs on the bar. Are these actually safe?

Don't put anything on the bars, wooden pegs are ok & you can try weaving cardboard through the bars or putting it over the bars if you ham chews a specific area.
The cage size & wheel sound fine, I would remove the suspension bridge thing, they are risky & your ham could get hurt.
Try whimzee dog chews (most use the toothbrush shape) for chewing, most hams love them & aren't interested in other chews much.
Do you have a photo of your cage set up? That would make it easier to suggest things to help.
Also have a look at the bar chewers thread for other ideas.

Your hammy is bitting his cage? Lemon juice is not recommended to put on the bars. It is quite normal for hamsters to bite the bars of the cage due to the hamster's teeth never stops growing.

Cardboard tubes, scatter feeding, puzzle feeders. Giving a variety of textures for chewing.
Adding a shelf and deep sebstrate for tunnelling might be enjoyed. Distracting your hamster helps.

Check the wheel is turning freely and that the water bottle is letting the water flow.

If you have a safe area for out of cage playtime. You could allow more out of cage time.
