Cool Biting bars!!

Hey everyone, just looking for some advice. Bertie has LOTS of things to chew in his cage and just has recently started bar biting, mainly when I think he wants to come out. Is there any other good things for hamies to chew?
Thank youu

Hamsters in barred cages tend to knaw on the bars when they want to get out, it has annoyed me tons! The best you can do is get your hammy out and play. There are other things to try, but if they want to get out, they want to get out.

What is his cage? Surely there might be a reason other than just gnawed today.

Some hams learn that bar chewing gets them attention so the best thing to do while it's happening is to ignore it completely & only pay attention & get your ham out when it stops.
It sounds like your ham may just want out more out of cage time if you can manage that it may help.
Whimzees are the best chews, they love them so great for distracting them!
Do you have a photo of your cage set up so we can see if there's anything else that might help.

I totally agree with the great advice Cypher gave. Some members have also been successful with weaving cardboard through the bars to help discourage this behavior and prevent hams from injuring themselves if bar chewing becomes obsessive.

He seems to do it once I've had him out in his ball or having some play time and it's asif he hasn't had enough and Wants more hahaa! It's literally just the door that opens that he chews so I'm presuming it's just he wants out. Got some pegs there to deterr him. Thanks everyone for the advice.
