Default eating sand?

today i bought some play sand for my hamster and she's been cleaning herself for 10-15 minutes in it, and i can hear the sand in her mouth crunching. should i take it out?

I don't think playsand is the right sand for a hamster. If it's safe to use for chinchilla's I also give it to my hamsters.

Tesco Children Play Sand is OK, but if your hamster is eating sand you might need to remove the sand and take your hamster to the vet for a check up, see if anything is wrong. (BTW I'm not an expert, but I do have some experience in hamster care for a first timer)

Like cypher I wouldn't worry about your hamster eating a little sand. My Pumpkin keeps her food stashed in her sand bath.
I assume that you have sterilised your play sand to ensure that it is safe.

Play sand is safe for hamsters as long as it been properly sterilised first.
