Hamsters in summer
Do hamsters become less active during the summer? I have a 5 month old female and she sleeps more and less uses the wheel, but she digging a lot of caves and sleeps on the bottom of the cage. Eat and drink as usual, so I do not think she's sick. Is it really hot at this time, maybe it was affected?
Or maybe the option that she does not like the new wheel? But tonight I left both wheels and I heard that she was running in the new one, so the wheel is likely to be fine.

Re: Hamsters in summer
They usually tend to be more active in summer & sleep more in winter so it's most likely the heat that's the problem.
There's a thread on keeping them cool here.
