Default Best way to go about taming Kit.

Hey. To explain what I mean, Kit almost seems to be afraid of me. Casper was always brave and happy to let me touch and handle him, so no worries there. Kit was always shy, hid in the house a lot as I've said before. For some reason more recently, as soon as I even get near his cage he freezes and then bolts to the house and usually doesn't resurface for hours. I should point out it's not always, the later it is the more likely he is to stay out or come back out quicker. He has a comfy house, new wheel, fresh food and water (I even give them things like cashews and carrots.) and my room is always pretty quiet i.e I don't jump about and scream and have parties 24/7 so really his environment shouldn't be the problem. I know some hamsters take time to bond/tame or that but I'm worried he stays like this. (I worry a lot don't I?) Just any reassuring words would be lovely ha ha.

It is probably his personality, he might be more of a shy and hide hamster? That was also Teodor did, try getting a glove and put sunflower seeds on the cage and see if he comes out to get it.

If I remember rightly it's not very long since you separated your hams so Kit will need some time to adjust & being the quieter of the two it may just take a bit longer for Kit.
Spend lots of time talking to him gently & quietly, even if he appears to be hiding of sleeping so he really gets used to your voice & presence around the cage, you could sit & talk to him a while then leave a treat when you walk away so he begins to associate you with good things.
Doing the tissue trick may help him get used to your scent & be less afraid, put some plain white toilet tissue up your sleeve for a few hours then shred it up & leave it in the cage, you can do that daily for a while if need be, he may or may not use it for nesting but it doesn't matter is will get him more accustomed to you either way.
It make take time & patience but I'm sure he'll begin to gain in confidence soon.

Of course! I didn't even think about that. I'm kinda embarrassed for asking now...! I did the toilet paper trick the other day, I'll do it again tomorrow morning. I put the exercise ball in the cage so he can go in in his own time but before I set him down now and then I let him come onto my hands for a little bit. Touching him is out of the question, he just hits the roof heh, but just to try and get him to learn hey I'm not a baddie. Thanks.
