Toria's sudden behaviour
While I was taking out Toria to play, I noticed she kept going to the direction of Teo's cage, ofcourse I wanted to see what she wants to do (Teodor was sleeping while I was playing with Toria.).
After going near Teo's cage, she's ontop of a small round platform and kept trying to go to Teo's cage.
Does anyone know what Toria wanted to do? This is the first time, I've seen her do that.

Re: Toria's sudden behaviour
Hi hellobg,
I hope you're not worried about Toria's behaviour, it sounds like she's being curious and probably nothing to worry about These are going to be some pure guesses as I don't know anything about your hammies but maybe it might get some ideas going..
Are these 2 syrian hamsters? Is Teo a male by any chance? If yes, could Toria be in heat and curious about Teo? Or if both female then perhaps Teo is in heat & Toria can smell her so she wanted to check out who this other female was. The reason I suggest this is because the only time any of my hams have shown interest in another ham's cage has been the males trying to get to the females cage. But I've only seen that with the Syrians I've had, not the dwarfs.
Or was there any strong smelling food in Teo's cage that might've got her attention?
Sorry if these are a bit random and obvious. I notice that you have 7 hammies so you probably are pretty clued up already

Oh, I had 7 hammies, but I only have 2 right now.
Toria is a female winter white hybrid and Teo is the male one. What should I do? Should I just let her be near the cage?
EDIT: It's also my first time owning Winter White Hybrids.

Re: Toria's sudden behaviour
So I've put them together for at least a minute, and this isn't the first time they've been put together...
This second time Toria didn't attack Teodor directly now, instead trying to smell him, but Teodor is too scared to respond so I got Teodor out and they're both back in their cages.

Re: Toria's sudden behaviour
Hello. Toria is a female, Teo is a male hamster. Toria is attracted towards Teo's cage. Do the math. Toria's probably in heat and wishes to procreate, after all, both of them are winter whites. Please don't allow them to be together, or the odds are you're going to end up with an accidental litter of baby hamsters. Also keep in mind, breeding hamsters is risky business and best not to attempt it without sufficient prior knowledge.
Moreover, allowing them to be together can be stressful to them. So even if it's just play time, since they live seperately, keep them apart. It's not worth the risk.

I'm aware that they're seperate gender and it seems very obvious. This is my first time owning Winter Whites Hybrids. Usually in Syrians if they're in heat they have a pointed tail. But I didn't notice this.
I asked all about this since she never took too much interest in Teo's Cage or him, until now where she kept going to Teo's cage. Though she stopped now.
Thanks for the advice as well.

Re: Toria's sudden behaviour
It may be best to just have them out in a play area where they can't get to each others cages, whatever you do don't let them come into direct contact with each other again, apart from potential babies (really not advisable with hybrids) it could be very stressful for them & they could fight.
