Unhappy Weird Changes in Behavior

Hey, everyone!

My hamster, Dumpling, recently started to display weird behavior. About a week ago, I trimmed her nails for the first time and cleaned her cage a few days after. Before I cleaned her cage she was fine and acting normal. However, two days ago she started to be more afraid of me. She runs back and forth and would jump behind her wheel in the corner as if she's trying to escape. Before, she would always immediately jump on my hand for some cuddles, but now she tries to run away from me as much as possible. She's never bit me, but I can definitely feel that there's something wrong. She would still eat off of my hand and sit on my palm whenever I give her a treat, but she no longer comes to me if I don't have food for her. She also doesn't welcome any head rubs like she used to. Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? How can I fix it?

How long have you had her now? It sounds as though the cage clean has upset her, she may have been a bit stressed by the nail clipping & the cage clean shortly afterwards could just have been a bit too stressful for her.
If she's new this is more likely, if you've had her for a while & she's normally ok with cage cleans then it may be that something else is bothering her.
Did you do a full or partial cage clean?
If you think it may be the cleaning that has caused the change in behaviour then just give her a while to settle again without much disturbance then go back to the beginning with getting her used to your hands again.

I've had her for over 4 months now. I used to clean her cage weekly, but this time around I left her cage alone for about two and a half weeks since she kept it extremely clean by going to the sand bath for all her business. I did a full cleaning, but I kept the same toys and houses for her. I'll see how she reacts in the next few days and hopefully, she goes back to normal

If she's used to cage cleans then it may just have been a bit much after the nail trimming then but to keep stress at a minimum in future unless her cage is very small I wouldn't do any full cage cleans.
Just do partial cleans, no more than half every few weeks or even longer if it doesn't need cleaning, always keep some of the old substrate, nest & food hoard.
