Exclamation Unusual sleeping behaviour

Hello everyone in the community of Hamster Central! I'm looking for some help or any advice to anyone who has experienced something similar.

I have two Dwarf Russian Campbells, one named Theodore and the other named Jasper. I got by boys around mid august, they should be about 6-7 months old now. Jasper has started to exhibit some very strange behavior as of late ie; lethargy, excessive drinking, excessive peeing etc.

At first I thought that both my boys may have had diabetes. Both were excessively peeing, bother were excessively drinking, Theo was hyperactive, and Jasper slept majority of the time. After monitoring them I have switched the boys to a new food, Versele-Laga, last week. I don't remember what brand I was using previously but what i do know is that it was far too high in sugars. Normally I would use All Living Things or National Geographic brand but those were both sold out at my local pet store.

Since switching to Versele-Laga I have noticed Theo mellow out and reach a more appropriate behavior granted that he's still peeing a little too much. Jasper on the other hand has gotten worse. He sleeps more and will barely move. He has also most some considerable weight. If I go to play with him he will slightly wake up and then keep on sleeping. Sometimes he will sleep right next to the water bottle and not move. I didn't find any of this seriously concerning until 2 days ago as he always slept in funny positions and would not move.

Today when I went to go check on him he would not wake up. He's in a permanent sleep. I nudged him and he didn't even twitch. I picked him up and hes still asleep. He's still breathing normally, no ragged or rough breathing. He also peed on me on his sleep. I've put him into a separate smaller cage where I can monitor him all throughout the day with some folded paper towel for easy clean up for now.

Please help! In all my years of having hamsters as pets I've never dealt with something like this. Anything would be appreciated.

I'm so sorry to hear your ham is so unwell, it does sound as though he may be severely diabetic, have you been testing their urine to see if that is the case? Without testing & knowing what glucose & ketone levels are it's not really possible to manage the condition.
Right now it sounds as though Jasper needs to see a vet as soon as possible, I'm not sure this is something you can deal with without the help of a vet at this stage.
