Smile Signs of Comfort In a Ham

Hi guys,

So we've had out little Campbell's dwarf, Nugget, now for about 4 months-ish. He's well settled and happy for us to pet and handle him and so forth.

I don't think he's too bothered whether he gets to play with us generally, but he will always come and say hello if he's up and we're in the room. I suspect that's more to do with the food he gets than the prospect of play time.

Though within the last couple of weeks when we've had him in our hands or laps he's cleaned and preened himself and I've heard this is a sign of comfort and that he feels safe. Is this correct what other bits of body language, noises and behaviours indicate comfort and a sense of security? This is more out of general curiosity but in aid of being good hamster owners as well.

Any input would be appreciated!
