Default Bullying or Fighting?

I've had two female dwarfs for about 4 months now, they seem really happy always curling up together and having food together. But just now as I took one of them (Coco) out to handle her, I put her back into the cage and the other hamster (Kiwi) Walked out of the hut put her face on Coco's, Coco let out a little squeak then Kiwi walked back into the hut.

I'm fairly certain it was just a little wrestling match that Coco submitted very quickly in but I want to make sure.

Another Note : I need to take Kiwi to the vet to get her claws trimmed (All other methods have failed) My question is, should I take both of them to the vet to keep each other company and that when Kiwi gets back her scent is unfamiliar to Coco's. It would it be better to just bring one?

I'd just separate them as soon as possible. They'll need time to settle and get used to being alone, but there are many benefits to single hamsters(like being more natural and being able to have more enrichment options)that make it entirely worth the separation Once the hamsters are separated for any period of time(regardless of how long or short that period is)they should never be put back together.

I did read somewhere that taking one out to handle without the other can lead to them falling out. It's very difficult to keep pairs without them falling out, and you need two of everything (houses, wheels, water bottles) and scatter feed ideally as well. I would keep a very close eye for the next day or so and any signs of bullying or fighting at all, then separate them - they can cause horrendous injuries. Better have a spare cage handy!

Scatter feeding sounds like a great idea , thanks. I'll start taking them both out together

I hope that helps I forget where I read it but taking one out without the other can apparently start the territorial behaviour over the cage (by the one not taken out).
