Basil took a very long time to tame completely. He was very nervous when he arrived but with a lot of patience he became very comfortable with our routine and me.
But unfortunately, I went on holiday for a week last week and in that time nobody was able to get him out. Our neighbour just came round at about 6pm everyday to put some food in the cage and check the wheel and water bottle- this time is too early and Basil is never awake then.
I spent my whole holiday worried that Basil would be different or forget me... And to my dispare, when I arrived home he was very nervous and did not wake up until about 12:00pm. Before I went on holiday he was up between 8-9pm everyday and was very eager to come out the cage and see me
Now he just sits in the corner of his cage and doesnt seem excited at all... It makes me so sad because I don't know what to do. He still takes treats from my hand and lets me pick him up but he just doesnt seem happy at all when I get him out so I have just left him and let him sniff and take treats from my hands.
Does anybody know what I can do to make him go back to his normal self
Im so sad because I really loved getting him out everyday and now I just keep worrying that he will never be the same again!
