He's such a clever boy! My hams both tried to find a way to get to the top of the wheel but couldn't work it out, so you've got a smart one there. So long as he gets a soft landing if he falls I guess it's fun for him. I wonder what Hamtaros next challenge will be.

Didn't realise that you were in America, sorry.

You could either make a bin cage, or have a look on Amazon US. I searched "hamster cages" and came up with this one, which is 100cm by 50cm (40 inches by 20 inches)

https://www.amazon.com/Ware-Manufact...s=Hamster+cage

Really, you're looking for a cage which is at least 80cm by 50cm (31 inches by 20 inches), but not more than 50cm (20 inches) tall as that would be a fall hazard.

Even 80 cm x 50 cm may not be large enough. While it would be a positive upgrade, the current problems could still persist, which would not be surprising to me.Plus,it would have to either be a meshed cage or something very expensive!

Even at the cost of the 40 x 20 cage,a DIY cage is still cheaper.A DIY cage could also be larger, and if behavior problems persist in most cases can be further directly expanded unlike wire cages which are relatively limited(substrate can also be only kept to a much more limited and less species appropriate depth.Even if you included tools into the cost of a square meter bin setup it would still be more cost effective for the amount of floor space not to mention the flexibility it brings

It really sucks that America doesn't have adequate cages. Honestly, this country is so behind on so many animal rights issues.

But anyway, I'm looking into 40-gallon tanks, so hopefully that works! Thanks everyone!

And thanks to those of you who said he was cute and clever!
