3 roborovskis not sure how happy they are?
I bought 3 roborovskis from gumtree recently.
They are all from separate litters and have been together a while, dont know how long. I recently witnessed a few tussels. No sound and no injuries that I can see.
One (Seren) is nearly twice the size of the other two, Daffodil and Maple. I often see Seren and Daffodil but Maple comes out much less than they do.
Between tussels (mainly Seren and Daffodil) they are fine. Sitting and grooming themselves and each other.
I just worry that Maple (who is tiny) is less relaxed than the others and also that if I separate one I may get it wrong and have two left who then fall out.
Advice welcome ...
Had them since 23rd of July this year.

Fingers crossed for you & Maple & that you make the right decision. Try not to overthink things, but it is concerning. Hope you get good advise XX

Re: 3 roborovskis not sure how happy they are?
It's really a case of just observe. If there are no injuries at the moment, just watch them. Bullying is quite obvious with tail chasing, cornering, and generally just chasing. My pair really did fight, lot's of noise and eventually blood was drawn and I had to separate them immediately. It is unusual to have dwarf hamsters from different litters together. I am wondering if those are the 3 I saw on Gumtree a few weeks ago. Just keep an eye on them.

Be prepared to separate, you may need to separate them and have them living solo.
I know you're hoping it doesn't come to that but it's best to be ready. You can't watch them 24/7.

Re: 3 roborovskis not sure how happy they are?
It is unusual isnt it? The man was very nice and clearly cared about them. They came with their perfecto tank with three glass shelves and two silent spinner wheels.
They had shavings as bedding. I have swapped them over to fitch which they have burrowed in and given them a sand bath which they use, especially Seren who seems to love it.
Will keep watching. My last twomhamsters (litter sisters from a breeder) fell out and had to be separated. There was a lot of squeaking and wrestling. This bunch just wrestle.
Seren is on one wheel, Maple and Daffodil on the other.
I am quite happy to separate if needed I just cant quite read them.

The 3 glass shelves, are they still in the tank?
If so, this can cause bullying, one may restrict the movement of the others. It's always best to have one level.
I've never hears of 3 dwarfs living together until now.

Re: 3 roborovskis not sure how happy they are?
It is an unusual situation really & as they've been together for a while I think all you can do is observe them closely & see how it goes.
Unless something actually seems to be causing a problem I wouldn't change anything in the cage, moving to a new home may have unsettled them a bit & any more changes could trigger a fall out.
Hard to know what to do as you haven't had much time to get to know them yet but if you are concerned better to separate than wait until something serious happens.

Re: 3 roborovskis not sure how happy they are?
Thin Lizzy the shelves are fixed in there. I know about levels causing fall outs but because they have always had levels I hoped it would be ok. Their previous owner had six living there at one time all added in from oops litters at different times.
Seren is the last remaining hamstdr of the original twomapparantly. 3 hamsters together is unusual.
Cypher. Good point. Dont want to wait until a disaster happens. Trying to have less set ups not more!!! Luckily I have a few bins which would be fine as cages for two of them if needs be.

Re: 3 roborovskis not sure how happy they are?
When I bought Paris (robo) she was in a cage with 3 other robos. When I bought her the other 3 looked horrified when she was gone. So they definitely have emotions. I probably wouldn't seperate them if at all possible?

Re: 3 roborovskis not sure how happy they are?
I'd watch them, but if they seem too stressed or one seems to be developing less, I wouldn't hesitate to separate them too much. Hamsters are adaptable, and though they may be adjusted to one another, they can certainly adjust to a life on their own. Hope all continuous going well with your trio
