Default Storing treats on the wheel?

Hi guys,
I've noticed today that some treats I've given Daenerys last night have been stored on her wheel,

When I adopted her from a pretty bad situation she didn't even know how to use a wheel because she had never been given one, she is full grown by the time I rescued her so it's been hard getting her to understand how to use it since she's very nervous about me being in her cage, I tried spinning it slowly in front of her once but she ran away when I put my hand in the cage.

She uses a flying saucer which is good but not the Same in my opinion but it's something Atleast,

I've never seen her use the wheel but she might when I'm not in the room, I've seen her walk on it a tiny but not running like I'd hoped.

So my question is, is she using it as a storage area, or is it possible she is using her wheel but just put stuff on it last night?

I gave Daisy one of those dandelion stick things and she completely demolished it and put it in her stash in the corner. The next night she moved the whole stash to her wheel. It stayed there two days. Then at night there was a small crash. She somehow knocked her igloo, stuffed with bedding, off the top shelf, inverting it. Then she moved onto the 2nd shelf and moved her stash into it and continued using it as her nest for a week, still upside down.
Have a look at BorisPashas Artie in his wheel with his food chasing around the wheel. So funny.

Ahh! So its a pretty normal thing to do then! That's good,
I was just more concerned because she doesn't seem to use her wheel at all, so I wondered if she was storing stuff there as a kind of way of saying, 'I don't know what this is for but it makes a good storage bin' Kind of thing

Who knows what she'll do next! I guess it takes a while for them to decide where to put their stuff. I've had Daisy two and a half weeks so she's still getting settled in.

She's an older Syrian, but I don't know how old as she's had at least 2 homes before. Her last owner was very good to her so I think she's quite happy. She's starting to come out of the cage onto my hand now, but still a bit shy.

Putting stuff in his wheel is Matthew's favourite thing to do and at first, I thought that he wouldn't be able to run on it with everything he'd put in there but he proved me wrong and I'll often hear a monkey nut or a dog biscuit clattering around in there as he runs.

I had one hamster in the past who would never run on his wheel if we were around but as soon as you left him alone, he'd start running and in a lot of cases this is what hamsters who don't appear to run on their wheels will do. I tend to think that as long as the option is there for them and they are able to run on the wheel they have comfortably then there's not a lot else we can do to encourage them to run on one.

I've got one who went through a spell of not wanting to run on his wheel at all but it didn't affect him as much as people worry that it might. Admittedly, my boy is lazy at the best of times but it was just a phase that he was going through and after a while he started to run on his wheel again.

Hamsters do strange things but perfectly normal to them.
Some prefer the saucer to the upright wheel and vice versa. Most of my hams at some point have done that and then gone for a spin sending everything flying, it's so amusing to watch.

Food/treats in the wheel is quite common. It's a handy snack when taking a break from running.
