Question about squeaking, my hammy recently has started to squeak while she’s sleeping and sometimes when she’s just woken up also occassionally she’s making the squeaking sound while she is awake, but when I take her in my hand and out for a play time she stops it. Could it be just getting some attention, even though I’ve read that hammies don’t really do that? Or should I be a bit worried?

She just turned one year old around October, so she is not a new hamter anymore and also she has a big cage, room to play and run around.

I've never heard of a ham squeaking for attention, they do find ways to grab attention but not usually squeaking, some hams are just quite vocal but for a ham of this age to suddenly start doing it is unusual, it may be nothing but I would keep a close eye on her just in case it is a sign of something else going on.
