Re: Bar Chewing
Unfortunately, I have deduced that Lil's sore nose is infact from bar chewing
I attempted this temporary fix for last night but it hasn't lasted very long..

I need to secure something more permanent on I think.

Re: Bar Chewing
Haha Lil was busy overnight! Let me know if you find something that works, as I am still trying with Quigley.

Re: Bar Chewing
Thanks BP. Yes, I did see that. Think it would be a fab idea if only Quigley liked whimzees! So far he has barely touched the one I have left in his cage

Re: Bar Chewing
Those of you who suggested wooden clothes pegs - do you think these mini wooden pegs would be just as suitable/safe?

Re: Bar Chewing
I wouldn't use the mini ones, I feel like they would be too easily pulled off and not provide much of an obstacle? Not sure though. I got a pack of 36 from Wilko for a pound which was great! I discovered a second area my ham is chewing in so I have clothes pegs all over the place. Hard to tell if it is working as I can't watch her all the time, but I did see her chew a peg a bit.
As I'm having a similar battle, I will share what I have tried: weaving cardboard hasn't been successful as she very quickly pulls it out. I zip tied thick cardboard on, but she gets that off overnight. So far the pegs are the only thing which have still been intact in the morning! And I haven't noticed a line over her nose in a few days, which she would sometimes have after chewing. Fingers crossed. Good luck to both of you!

Re: Bar Chewing
Sophiedoe- How many wooden pegs are you having to put on ?
I reckon i'm going to have to put pegs all the way round the cage. It's going to be so impractical!

Re: Bar Chewing
I have around 12 on now, maybe just put them in the main areas she has been chewing?

Re: Bar Chewing
If the cardboard barriers are anything to go by, she just focuses her attention on a new exposed bar.. haha
