WW behaviour change
Hello everyone,
I've got a WW (hybrid) from Pets At Home, I've had her just over two weeks.
She was a gift from my parents for my birthday and the horrendous people at the shop advised the smallest cage which, my parents being uneducated on the topic of hamsters, bought alongside the hamster and the wrong food, wrong ball and wrong everything else.
I've since rectified all the problems (the next day in fact) and she's now as from Monday just gone, in a much bigger cage. It's not the biggest but it's the largest I could fit in my small bedroom.
When she was in her tiny 24-18 cage 😭 she was always eager to come out, she was super easy to tame, climbed onto my hand every time I lowered into the cage, but now, she's completely different.
For a start she's waking up so late at night (gone midnight) for the last two nights I've not been able to do anything with her because I'm just so tired I couldn't stay up like I normally do to take her out. I've tried changing her sleep patten to wake at 11pm but she's not interested in treats, she just refuses to come out of her house. Point blank.
Anyway, when she does come out of her house, she's refusing to come out of her cage, I put my hand in for her to climb on and she'll just either ignore it, walk over and nibble my finger then walk off or run back into her house.
No I've not hurt her, scared her, dropped her. The sudden change is odd. Any thoughts?

Re: WW behaviour change
Sometimes hamsters' sleep schedules change up from time to time. My robo boys will be coming out at 10:00 pm for two weeks and then suddenly not come out until after midnight for a week or two.
She may just be adjusting to her new cage. One of my robos, Tangerine, had to be separated from his brother. After I moved him to his new cage he was extremely skittish. He's getting better now though.

Re: WW behaviour change
She was up at 10.15 tonight. I've just decided to go with it to be honest, if she's happy, I'm happy.
Thanks!

Re: WW behaviour change
My dwarf hamster has done the same thing for the last two days, but tonight she woke early and was eager to climb on my hand, have a cuddle and run around in her playpen.
Not sure why, but glad she and yours are back to a more normal schedule.
