Exclamation Popcorn

I went to PetSmart to get Wasabi a treat and I found these little corn on the cob thingies (they're like 3" long) that you stick in the microwave for 15 seconds and you get popcorn on a stick. I put it in the microwave for 10 seconds and about half of it was popped so I let it cool off.

I put it in her cage to see what she would do and she ran to it and dragged it in her house but like half of it was sticking out so she ripped off the popcorn and pushed it in her house. She bit off some corn kernels and I figured that was enough treats for one week so I put it away.

At night I usually watch her and I saw a piece of popcorn stuck between her toes. I picked her up and gently removed it and put her back in her cage and guess what? She put another piece of popcorn between her toes.

I let her keep it there and then she ran on her wheel and the piece of popcorn fell out from in between her toes and she stopped, picked it up and ate it.

Then she put popcorn between all her toes and when it looked like she was hungry she'd stop and eat some popcorn. Does anyone know if I should take her to the vet or something?

Hmm, I don't think it would be necessary to take her to the vet unless the corn is causing her injury. Our hams can do some pretty funny, weird and worrisome things, and I think this is just a case of silly behavior If she isn't pouching any food though I would take her to the vet, she could have a cheek injury or a piece of food lodged in her cheeks.

She never pouches food when she runs on her wheel but she does it after I refill her bowl. So there's nothing wrong with her?

I'd think not, she's probably just being a silly ham Just watch her for any signs of her being in pain.
