peeing in tubes :(

I don't know if this has been covered in another thread I tried to look through to see but couldn't see one.

My hamster has started peeing in her tubes - same one every time - we clean the tube and she does it again - tried putting a hamster toilet in the bottom cage with some drops of wee and some droppings in it so as to try and change this.

anyone have any ideas - any other way I can connect two cages together - they are bin cages one bigger and one smaller on top of the bigger one. I can't really do it with them side by side as the area in which they are there isn't the space - we are potentially moving in the near future so possibly could look at doing that in the new place as will have more space.

It isn't possible to connect bins vertically without tubes as far as I'm aware I would just keep them separate for now and stick with the single floor space,as the modular addition doesn't really increase the floor space anyways so it isn't a major loss to not have it.Removing the tubes is important anyways,as they along with any other plastic item that is similar including houses would have terrible ventilation.Plastic is not in any way a breathable material,and even if tubes or houses have a few small holes or even slits it will never compensate for the material itself.It's also not a digestible material,so aside from being a potential cause of respiratory problems it can also cause blockages

In the future keep in mind that stacked bins do not change floor space,while if done properly you can achieve a true expansion with bins that are directly connected(not with tubes or anything similar,but a truly uninterrupted connection between bins preferably more than just two with size being a key factor into the exact amount of bins along with species).

I suppose that you could use a ramp (made with a slate of wood) or just a long bendy bridge.

I think that the first choice would be safer as you could add a banister, so he can't jump. Maybe you will need to make a bigger hole in order to fit the ramp. How are you cleaning the tubes? If you use small pets disinfectant then stop and use just warm water only. The more you clean it the more they'll pee. You could remove the tubes until she's toilet trained.
