Default Tail up?

Does any one know what walking about with her tail up in the air means? This is little Phoebe i'm talking about. She only really does it when she's out with me but she does it a lot!!

Are you sure she isn't in season? They do this when you rub them along their back. They usually stand very still though in a sort of trance. Sometimes they scent mark as they run about by sort of sticking up their tail and pressing their 'lady bits' on the ground.

ah it could be that. She is quite whiffy as well, but she generally is! Are some hamsters just a bit smellier than others?

Some females are more 'scented' than others yes. Cinnamons are particulary known for the strong musky smell.
It is pretty normal but you need to always watch out for any change in the smell especially accompanied by heavier than normal discharge as this can mean an infection. Sounds awful but we do give our girlies the sniff test frequently as we find we can detect anything abnormal very quickly!
