Yes they were kept in the same box all the way home because the lady in the shop explained how that even short periods of separation could cause fighting. I think it must just be the case that they are simply not suited for each other which is a shame but I'm glad that they're happier now

It is a shame but they'll be happy living alone & you don't need to worry about them now!
It may just have been the stress of leaving the pet shop & moving into a new environment that set them off.
