Default Changing behaviours?

Hi so my hamster, Basil, started off very very nervous when I got him im January and after months of hard work he became very friendly.
But recently he has started to adopt some of his old behaviors.
I got him a new cage just over a month ago, and he was a little scared at first so I let him be for around 4-5 days. After that he was fine, and stayed to his 11:00pm wake up time which worked prefectly for me. But recently, he seems to stay in his house until around 12:30 and I just can't stay up that late waiting for him but also can't bear not letting him have a play time. Not only has he been doing this, but I have been trying to wake him earlier and NOTHING will get him to leave his house. I also don't want to make him scared of me as now I think in my attempts to wake him up he is a little frightened as he is naturally quite a cautious hamster.
I don't know if it might be to do with the fact he has changed which hide-out he sleeps in... it seems to be worse since he moved in there.
Also, when I get him out for play time, he doesn't seem as lively as before- much more cautious and spends a lot of time sitting in corners cleaning himself which I know is stress.
Can anybody help me because I'm worried about him and I just want him to be how he was a few weeks ago!

What species is he? Does he display any other symptoms that would be indicative of illness? Sudden changes in a hamster's behavior can be a sign something is amiss. Especially when it comes to sleeping more and being less energetic. To be safe, you may want to get him checked out by a vet to make sure all is okay. I'd try to slowly wake him up a bit earlier, encourage him out of his nest by using treats and things he likes as it's important he gets his exercise on a nightly basis (or as often as you can offer him) Over time, he should adapt to your schedule again. Give him a health check, does all seem alright with him? If not or even if you're just generally concerned, head to a vet Hope all is well with him

He is a syrian.
He seems well to me. Yesterday I got him out and he seemed quite chirpy. As far as I can tell he is fine?
I also think it might be something to do with the light. He seems to always get up when I turn the light off, which is understandable!

I am so glad that Basil seems much better. Hopefully, he will continue to act like his typical, playful self. I would just keep monitoring him to make sure that all is as it should be. Good luck, Hamsterbasil.
