Advice?
So I recently got a Campbell's Dwarf Hamster and he seems to be adjusting well. I've had him for a week now and I allowed him 3 days to adjust. He is comfortable taking seeds from me and even eating in my hand. I can pick him up but he still seems unsure of me. He has food, water, a 30G aquatic tank with paper substrate, a burrow box, and some sanitized wood to chew/climb. Is there anything I'm doing wrong or any way I can help him (his name is Marley) adjust to me (as he already has a nest, burrows, eats, drinks and seems overall comfortable with his cage)?

Re: Advice?
Sounds like you and Marley are making great progress for only having him a week. I would recommend doing the tissue trick to help him get used to your scent - this involves putting some white unscented tissues up your sleeve for a while so they can get your scent over them. Then tear them into strips and place them in your Marley's cage - he will probably take the tissue to his nest - therefore he will start to find comfort with your scent.
Taming sometimes can be a slow process as each hamster has their own pace and it's best not to rush them. I would continue to repeat the steps you mentioned in your post until he is fully comfortable with being in your hand.
Does he have a sand bath? I remember that my Russian dwarf hamsters used to love rolling around in their sand baths.

Re: Advice?
I find my dwarf likes to sit inside things like hideaways rather than on things like my Syrian does. Maybe get him some of them if you haven't already, or just some more of you already have some, as mine loves them.

Re: Advice?
I agree it sounds as though taming is going really well for just a few days, don't try to rush anything, carry on with what you're doing & he will slowly gain in confidence.
My hams wouldn't be without a sand bath either! Not sure how easy it is to get hold of where you are but you need some chinchilla sand, not dust, & a container big & deep enough for him to dig & roll in, they absolutely love their sand baths & it is quite important for keeping their coats in good condition too as well as helping a little with trimming nails.

Re: Advice?
He doesn't have a sand bath yet although I plan to get one after he is more comfortable in his home. He has a cardboard box with 2 holes (where he's currently asleep) and I had already placed the tissue into there with my scent before he came home so I could just leave him be to adjust for a few days. He is comfortable crawling onto my hand from his cage and up and down my arms and even seems excited to see me at night when he's awake (as I refuse to disturb him while he is asleep). What type of sand works best for them as I've read some kinds can be harmful?
Thanks for all the help, any other suggestions are welome
