Default Missing

Duffy(my hamster) has escaped before and I can usually find him under the washing machine or somewhere in the toilet. However, I can't find him this time, I have looked everywhere. I placed treats in front of the washing machine, the boiler and inside his cage but they are still there after two nights. Please tell me what to do.

On youtube there are videos about making bucket traps. These are brilliant.

Leave the cage open as well and remember to put a bowl of water down for him.

Best of luck.

Is it possible that he went out of the house?

It is possible, it's not the first time that would have happened. Do you live in a house or apartment? I would recommend trying a bucket trap. You can sprinkle flour on the floor to check for footprints. I would definitely leave food and cucumber in as many rooms as possible to at least give him some sustenance. I would leave his open cage somewhere easy for him to access. If you have a female hamster of the same species, leave her in her cage near where you think he is. A female's scent will often draw them out.

Good luck - I hope you find him soon.

Chesca gave excellent advice, definitely make sure to do all of those! Is there any way you can get a camera that can monitor or at least a recording device? When I lost one of my gerbils I thought I was hearing things, but couldn't be sure. So I left the camera out and in the middle of the night I caught a glimpse of orange fur! Like said above, no-kill mouse traps will help a lot if you can get a bunch and leave them scattered throughout the house. Look for signs something is around, droppings, urine, claw marks, and scratching noises in walls and underneath of things. You may want to check in odd places you wouldn't think a hamster would wind up. My gerbil (the one caught on video) was actually wedged underneath the frame of my bathroom sink! I hope you find Duffy soon, keep us updated on how things are going
