Re: Obsessive
Corner digging when it becomes obsessive, obsessive pacing, leaping at the glass obsessively,in some cases constant climbing and gnawing at an aquarium lid as well.Generally obsessive behaviors, most of all, because some of these things aren't necessarily indicators until they become obsessive. There may be some other signs too that I'm forgetting but those are definitely the major ones!

Yes those are all things she does! So it definitely must be that she needs a bigger cage

Re: Obsessive
Not many people recognize those signs as what they truly are once they become obsessive It is wonderful that you're at least putting the thought towards it,thus taking action!
A bigger cage should help,as long as it is set up with very deep substrate and lots of enrichment and minimal wide open spaces(lots of roof cover is very important with prey animals, especially rodents). However,a bigger cage is not going to help if it isn't set up well Just something to remember!

Yeah I can see how some people wouldn't. I'd always kind of had a feeling that that's what those signs meant, but thought maybe I wasn't setting up the tank right or she was just really energetic.
I am definitely going to see what I can do about getting her a bigger cage!
I will keep all those things in mind when setting up the cage thank you (:

I'm thinking of possibly just making my own custom cage so that I can still get her a bigger cage but it will still fit in my room. There's a wall where I have a frog tank that it could fit, but I would have to modify the tank a bit.
The size I'm thinking is 35" x 29" which is a little over 1,000 sq ".
Hoppinghammy has a video on Youtube about her DIY cage so I would be doing something along those lines hopefully!

Re: Obsessive
35 x 29 is still a bit small and wouldn't be worth making something at that point. If it wouldn't be significantly larger than a Detolf(such as 1,550 square inches and larger)then it isn't worth DIYing for a Syrian

This is such a hard thing to do! Because with the 40 inches that means I can't use my desk and I can't move any of my furniture so I'm still trying to figure out how to go about this ):

Re: Obsessive
37 inches x 42 inches is one example that would work,as long as you can manage the extra two inches of length and the extra width it would be a great size.Other sizes with small width would require extremely long cages so it is a very difficult thing to balance
