Default wee'd

Koda's taming is going ok, he hasn't bitten me again since that one time and he lets me pick him up without too much struggling. I get him onto my hand and he walks from hand to hand and up my arm. The thing is, he doesn't actually 'enjoy' being in my hand for its own sake and he is always looking to get off. I have started extending the time he has to stay in my hand (a couple of minutes at a time now) and I've also started curling my hand around his body as when he's in my hand. So far it's going ok, but is this the normal course of events with taming or will he never actually get to enjoy a cuddle?

One more question - today, during our session, I was handling him and letting him go onto my lap as well as my hands and arms and he peed on my lap. Does this have any significance in hammy behaviour, such as marking me as his territory (which would be a good sign) or was a sign of indignace and frustration at having to be near me?

They just go when they need merita. Sometimes frightened hams wee with fear but this just sounds as if he needed! It is quite good really as they are quite vulnerable when weeing so he must have felt safe to do it there
As he is a baby he is really not going to sit still on you for long. They are so inquizative, curious and active they just want to see what is happening a little bit further on! When he is quite a bit older he may sit and just let you stroke him but for now you need to let him be a giddy baby. Hamsters are never really cuddly though like cats and dogs.
I think you are doing great with him and he sounds like he is taming nicely. Well done you

It's very rare for hammies to actually stay still for longer than a second or two when they're out - but if he's happy walking on and around you, I think that's pretty tame, so well done

When I've had syrians, they've occasionally had a wee while out when they were young (within lets say the first six months or so), but tended to do it much less as they got older.
