Default Weird staring behaviour

Hi guys, just a quickie.
I'm more curious than worried but still a bit of both. As you know my hammy is tame, hes a year old and currently in a big cage with a sandbath and a wheel and some more toys and chew sticks.
Tonight i had let him run in his playpen whilst i did a full clean on his cage (he actually responds well to this change - i only do it once a month whilst spot cleaning every day). I put him back in and an hour later i caught him asleep on his second level, literally just sitting there! I mean this may be normal in your hammys but this is weird for mine! So i went over and started playing/talking to him and then he was by the door and did it again! He just seems so spaced out! He was running on his wheel and bathing then it happened.

Any ideas why??

Thank you

Sounds normal to me, considering the fact that you did a full clean out, your ham is probably a bit confused as to what has happened to his nest. Because of this, he may be finding a new area to sleep, or may just be so exhausted that he collapsed. My hams change sleeping spots every so often, especially my younger ones, so much so it seems to be a nightly occurrence. Unless other aberrant behaviors show up, there's really no need to worry

I think they can be a bit stunned and confused after a full cage clean. I tend to do partial cage cleans - ie not clean everything at the same time So there's something that still smells familiar. So I'll do the substrate but not clean anything else. And add a bit of the old substrate back if you have to change most of it and put it on top so it smells familiar. Then another week I'll do the wheel. And another week any toys that need cleaning (toys aren't too bad usually). And unless his nest is pee'd in I leave it alone.
