Chewing ball
Hi everyone, I'm new to this site although I have been reading tips on here for a few moths now. I need some advice now so here it goes.
I got my hamster in late May, she's a black Syrian and is huge. She has always enjoyed going out in her ball in the evenings for a fair few hours with her rest breaks every 30-50 minutes. She's always climbed in on her own and run around like mad in the ball.
However recently she has decided to just chew her ball when she is inside instead of running. It's really annoying me and she constantly wants to get back in her ball when I put her back in her bin cage when she does chew on the ball. I've tried getting her up early, letting her run wherever she wants in the room in the ball, letting her sleep in late... not sure what else I can do, does anyone have any suggestions that might help?

Re: Chewing ball
A solid sided playpen with tubes, see-saw and things to chew. Or instead of a playpen you can use a bath without water to let her run around.
My hamsters liked climbing up the stairs. If your stairs don't have open stair rails you could let her play in a hallway, with doors closed and climb the stairs. You have to be right near her ready to catch her in case she falls.
Her ball may be too small making using it uncomfortable. A rat ball might be more comfortable.
