Default Francisco biting everyone but me?

For some reason whenever anyone except for me holds Francisco he bites them hard (usually hard enough to draw blood). He's even like it with his other owner (my friend and I bought them together)? He does it when she washes her hands first too so it can't be that she smells like food either. I don't kno why he's like this

He only bites me when if I accidentally make him jump trying to pick him up and he never bites me when I'm holding him.

His brother Stephano never bites anyone and actually licks your hand when you place it in the cage.

Default Re: Francisco biting everyone but me?

All hamsters have different temperaments and personalities!

Little Francisco sounds like he uses biting as his fear response, which is perfectly normal. It could be that he trusts you more than he trusts anyone else so he doesn't bite you. (Unless you startle him!)

It may be that you just need to warn people that want to hold him that he bites people he doesn't know!

To avoid giving him any frights it may be a good idea to make some noise in front of him before you pick him up so he knows you're there, it'll probably be better for both you and him so you avoid a nasty bite and he avoids a nasty fright!
