No cardboard boxes left at work other than small ones so I went into the attic and dug out one of my smaller bin cages. After I gave it a clean I tried him in that and so far so good. He actually played with his toys and found himself some seeds that I'd hidden for him.

Hopefully now we've found a solution, he'll start to enjoy his playtimes again.
