Help
Hello
I've had my hamster since Dec 16th last year, I predict she is about over 1 year old
Last January, Februay and April we went on holidays and left TIlly with a very good pet hotel type place for small animals, after the third time of being there she became to know the place and accepted it as part of her routine
We have had 6 months together since the last time and she is always eager to come out,
We picked her up from her holiday and the first night she was very eager to come out and explore but since then she hasn't wanted to come out and has started pouching her food and hiding away,
Just wondered if it's because the holiday, the cold weather or her age? Or all 3
I miss her and want her out to play,
Thanks

Re: Help
Sorry your hammie is hiding. How long was she at the sitters place & how long have you had to back again? Something might have stressed her. Hope in the next few days after she has time to settle in she will be back to normal. It doesn't sound like medical problem or old age to me. I just think she has been stressed a little.

Re: Help
6 months is a very long time for a ham so you can't really expect things to have still been familiar to her or for her to react the same way to the change in her routine.
She'll probably settle down again soon enough, just give her a little time but keep an eye on her just in case something else if bothering her.
The colder weather could well be part of the problem, they do tend to like their beds when it's a bit chilly.

Re: Help
I didn't see how that you had her at the sitters for 6 mo, that is a long time. Hope she adjusts soon and realizes that she's back with her mommy again

Re: Help
I think maybe my reply was a bit confusing CB, I meant 6 months since she last went to the pet sitter & things not to still be familiar there!

Re: Help
Thanks for your help
She was at the sitters for 8 days and nights, we have been back 1 week on Monday,
I tidied her cage tonight at 9pm when I finished work and she came out for a bit, she had a run round in her ball and had a cuddle with me, and explored our shelfs for a bit, she seemed fine and happy so maybe it was cold and I need to encourage her again until she gets her routine back
I will see How she is every night until she is settled again
Thanks
