Teeth chattering
I have just noticed tonight that my hamster is chattering his teeth i'm still in the taming process and worried if i'm doing something wrong. He started when i was gently talking to him, he's done it quite a lot randomly like during the day but i had always thought he was chewing food but now i know thats not the case. Have i scared him or stressed him out?

Re: Teeth chattering
I've had hams do that when they're a little bit annoyed with me, usually if I'm interfering with something & they'd rather I no!
It's never been anything serious or a sign that they're actually scared with any of mine but yours could be a little nervous still if you're taming so if it happens again I'd just give him some space for a few minutes before going back to what you were doing.

Re: Teeth chattering
Mine does it when he is annoyed with me - like if I wake him up - or sometimes if he is a little nervous

Re: Teeth chattering
They tend to do it when they are warning you that they are near the limit of tolerance. Slow back when he chatters then gradually proceed whilst taking to the hamster and reassuring it. A chatter can become a bite if you rush them or make them do something they are not ready for at that time.

Re: Teeth chattering
Is there anything in his cage that might be bothering him do you think? I'd watch to see if it really is random or if there something more specific making him grumpy.

Re: Teeth chattering
One of mine chatters when he's annoyed, the other chatters when he's excited, has done since I got him at 4 weeks old.
